Imagine this: You are 22 years old. You have spent your whole life pursing a dream to become a major league baseball player. You practice hard, play hard, workout hard and make hard scarifies to make your dream come true and it happens. You get your shot in the big leagues. You pitch your fourth major league game of your career. You go six scoreless innings in front of 40 thousand fans. You are living the dream and have become considered one of baseballs top rookie prospects. Then, on your way home, without warning, you are hit by a car that ran a red light and you die.

That is exactly what had happen to Nick Adenhart early this morning. And the rest of us, more so his family stands in the wake of the tragic lose and wonders where is the justice? How could God be so unfair? What did Nick do to deserve such a raw deal in life?

The truth is God had nothing to do with the accident. Though God knew it was going to happen, He did not orchestrate it as a means to teach all of us lesson or to punish Nick for some pass wrong doing. Nick unfortunately was a victim of self will run riot, as the driver of the vehicle that hit him was under the influence. Bad things; horrible things; injustice things happen because of free will, and I think God is sadden over it as much as we are. However, we can take assurance and comfort in knowing that God is the great redeemer and He will redeem this tragic lose for His glory. We can also take comfort in knowing that this life that we have here on earth is not the end all, but actually the beginning of eternity. Our day to day life, as good as it may be at times, is only the appetizer to the great feast that awaits all of us on the other side. As good as life was going for Nick, we Trust in the promises of God and know that he is now feasting with our Heavenly Father. And one day, we too will join that feast with our friends and family who have transitioned to the other side of eternity before us.
