Audrey and I went to the Sequoia National Park this afternoon for a picnic. It's a shame that we live about an hour away from the world's largest trees, yet we only come up maybe once a year. And yes, I am a tree huger.

The largest living thing on the planet is a Giant Sequoia Tree. The General Sherman is over 2,000 years old and stands taller than the Statue of Liberty. General Sherman is also the Nation's Christmas Tree. About seven years ago, my friend Brad's girlfriend flew out from the mid-west to visit him for Christmas. One night, while the three of us were having dinner, I told her all about the Giant Sequoias. I mentioned to her that the Nation's Christmas Tree was only about an hour away. With that, the three of us took off at about 10:30 at night to go look at the biggest Christmas Tree in the world. To our surprise and disappointment, we found that they don't decorate the Nation's Christmas Tree with any Christmas lights or ornaments.
